And this year’s challenge is… And the 2015 FIRST Robotics Competition game is…RECYCLE RUSH! What do you think of the new game? Did you miss the Kickoff broadcast? You can replay the whole thing here. Just want to check out the Game Animation? Take it away, Frank!
We had the opportunity to share Ellie with members of FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams from North-East Ohio. They were able to drive the robot around and learn about the different aspects of FRC. We wish them luck in their future FLL competitions and we hope that they continue on with FIRST as they enter high-school.
The team worked hard as volunteers at the FIRST Lego League (FLL) Competition at HB today, selling concessions, running score sheets, guiding guests, setting up, and tearing down. All proceeds we made from concessions today will go directly to our team, so thank you to everyone who came to support members of many ages of FIRST, and congratulations to HB’s FLL team, the Programming Penguins, on their hard work and […]
With game hints being thrown about on chief delphi and rumors flooding the team, preseason has become a rush of energy. The unicorns are still busy learning and perfecting all the skills necessary for an efficient build season and then some. We patiently await January 3…
Working at the NXT Lego Workshop with Boys Hope Girls Hope was an absolute blast! We hope to see many of these bright students at upcoming competitions and look forward to seeing many join robotics teams of their own in the upcoming years!
The NEOFRA Mahoning Valley Robotics Competition was absolutely amazing! Our team entered the quarter-finals as one of the alliance captains and while we didn’t advance to the semi-finals, we certainly played hard and ended our time with Ellie on a high note, with a perfect autonomous and outstanding alliance cooptertition! Thanks so much to all of the volunteers who made the event possible!
Fabrication marches on as we head into Week 6. It’s going well, though! Epic weekend will be pretty epic but not insufferably epic. For the uninitiated: Epic Weekend is a four day weekend our school dubs “Winter Weekend”– the majority of girls at this fine institution use it for such enterprises as finishing theses chapters or watching the entirety of the new season of House of Cards on Netflix. On 2399 we […]
Currently cutting the board for the ring light… 4 colors of led should make the programmers happy with vision.
These came (with some difficulty) off the laser cutter tonight, too. ABS gears seem to work very well! Sarah, Becky, and Arkady were up in another shop working on shafts. I don’t have any pictures for you because I didn’t get to see the finished product myself! I’ll post more machining update tomorrow.
This morning at 10:30am, the FIRST robotics competition live stream aired. After months of waiting and picking apart ame hints, FRC teams around the world watched on the edge of their seats, waiting to the hear this year’s game… and none of us saw it coming. This year’s game is Ultimate Ascent! Robots are tasked with firing frisbees into to targets of low, medium and high height, as well as […]
Hello, world! So, the blog hasn’t been active since August (yikes!), so we have a lot of catching up to do! Let preseason begin! Since we last posted, The Fighting Unicorns went back to school, and started up our recruiting program for the 2012 season! This mostly consisted of luring in unwitting freshmen with the promise of cookies and shiny robots. We got a bunch of awesome rookies for this […]
On August 5th, the eve of the landing of the Curiosity Mars Rover, the NASA Glenn Research Center hosted an event to celebrating the landing over at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. They invited the local FRC teams to come and do demos, and we were all too happy to accept their invitation! Vlad rolled in early that afternoon and we set up shop next to 1270, a really […]
This morning we got to spend a 40 minute period with the 8th graders to introduce them to FRC, so they’ll have a better idea of whether they’re interested in joining the team next year. The girls rotated around– the most popular station definitely being robot driving! They also got to try their hand at designing a robot in a sort of kickoff-day-like scenario; they watched the Logomotion game video […]
This past Saturday, Vlad the Velociraptor and five girls from 2399 went to the Lake County Captains game in Eastlake, Ohio! Vlad was scheduled to deliver the baseball to the umpire at the start of the game. This is the second year 2399 has participated in the Captains’ Science Day, where a mixture of teams from first and other robotics challenges converge on the game to spread the word about […]
